BRENDA the Transcendent

This painting started life as a fiber art piece dyed in a brew pot of iron and eucalyptus.

What began as a mirror image, materialized into a being formed from plant shapes.

“B R E N D A the Transcendent” represents an emissary of Mother Nature, and seems to be quietly reminding us that existence is truly miraculous.

About the Artist

Rosenthal paints primarily with acrylics and oils on canvas, often layering in inks, charcoal, spray paint, and found objects. Whether rendering explicit shapes or washes of atmospheric color, her work balances vibrant spontaneity with a contemplative sense of calm—a reflection of her dual experience: the frenetic hum of urban life and the restorative stillness of coastal walks by the Pacific.

She describes the resulting tension in her work as a “new equation”—a dynamic interplay between structured form and intuitive expression. Her palette often leans toward neutral tones, punctuated with bright sparks, inviting the viewer to envision a journey through each piece.

Recently, Rosenthal’s artwork has been recognized and awarded by both the Oceanside Museum of Art and Front Porch Gallery, affirming the impact and resonance of her creative vision within the Southern California art community.

Painting intuitively, she seeks to discover rather than plan the endpoint, trusting in the allure of the unfolding journey.
